Johari Shukri Jamil was appointed as the President/Chief Executive Officer of UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) on 2 May 2025. A distinguished and results-driven leader, he brings over 28 years of extensive multi-sector experience, spanning private enterprises, government-linked companies (GLCs) and publicly listed corporations. His diverse background and strategic foresight position him to lead UDA toward greater growth and transformation.
Prior to joining UDA, Johari served as the Group Managing Director of PASDEC Holdings Berhad (PASDEC) from 1 October 2024. At PASDEC, a diversified group involved in property development, project and asset management and construction, he led the company’s transformation and growth agenda with a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency.
Previously, Johari held the role of Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hektar Asset Management Sdn Bhd, the manager of Hektar Real Estate Investment Trust (Hektar REIT). He played a key role in leading the REIT’s post-pandemic recovery, delivering industry-leading dividend yields of 11.4% in FY2022 and 7.7% in FY2023. Under his stewardship, market capitalisation increased significantly from under RM300 million to nearly RM500 million. He also led the REIT’s strategic diversification, including its first acquisition of a non-retail asset aimed at enhancing income resilience.
Johari introduced a RM500 million Medium-Term Note (MTN) programme to strengthen capital structure and financial sustainability. Notably, RM215 million of the MTN was guaranteed by the Credit Guarantee & Investment Facility (CGIF), a subsidiary of the Asian Development Bank, which secured a AAA rating from RAM Ratings. This initiative contributed to a significant improvement in Net Property Income (NPI) and overall operational performance as well as efficiency.
Between 2019 to 2021, Johari was the Executive Vice President of Business Development and Transformation at Iskandar Investment Berhad. During his tenure, he successfully secured land sales exceeding RM400 million and led large-scale strategic valued investments. He was also seconded to lead Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd, further underscoring his leadership versatility and spearhead the business development functions.
Johari dedicated eight impactful years (2011–2018) to Johor Corporation (JCorp), begin as General Manager of Business Development before rising to Chief Executive Officer of Tanjung Langsat Port Sdn Bhd while also served on the boards of multiple JCorp subsidiaries. Among his key contributions was his involvement in the Federal Government’s National Transformation Programme under PEMANDU, where he provided strategic input through the Corridors and Cities Lab to accelerate regional economic growth.
Within the JCorp Group, he held several key positions including Vice President of Business Relationship & Marketing (Industrial Development Division), Executive Director at both TPM Technopark Sdn Bhd and Tanjung Langsat Port Sdn Bhd and as Chief Operating Officer of EA Technique (M) Berhad, a public-listed entity. His leadership was instrumental in driving the TPM Technopark Sdn Bhd and Tanjung Langsat Port’s profitability and facilitating over RM10 billion in local and foreign investment, alongside land sales exceeding RM1.5 billion in industrial development area.
Johari’s commitment to sustainability earned him national and industry recognition. In 2011, the Prime Minister of Malaysia acknowledged his contributions to national development through the Corridors and Cities Lab initiative. Under his leadership, Hektar REIT received numerous accolades, including two Silver awards at The Edge Malaysia ESG Awards 2022 for “Most Improved Performance” and “Property & REIT Sector.” In 2022, it was named “Company of the Year” at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards, and in 2023, it won dual Gold awards at The Edge Malaysia ESG Awards. Hektar REIT also earned a 4-star ESG rating in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index as of June 2022.
Beyond his executive roles, Johari continues to contribute to corporate governance and youth development. He currently serves as the board member of Yayasan Majlis Belia Malaysia (YMBM).
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (Polymer) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and is an alumnus of the Advanced Leadership Programme at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.
