As a government agency, UDA has taken the initiative to help the government with the unemployed graduates by providing them with training opportunities to improve their working skills and ability through their Management Training Scheme. Through this scheme, the unemployed graduates are given the exposure to office operations.
In the current competitive era, graduates need to be multi-skilled to enable them to compete in the job market. A diploma or a degree alone is not sufficient for them. They need to have other additional skills such as communication, management, IT and human skills. Through this programme, the graduates get the opportunity to improve themselves in these skills as well as gaining experience.
Through this programme too, the graduates learn practical skills in dealing with fellow colleagues as well as external parties. The programme helps them in capacity building to enable them to be more marketable in the industry. The graduates get the chance to practice the knowledge that they have gained from their study. In short, the aim of this programme is to increase the graduates' employability. The skills and experience that they gain during the training give them added value and make them more marketable in the job market.
The UMT programme started in 2007 (annual intake). So far about 110 graduates have undergone the training in UDA group companies. Some of them have been absorbed as UDA staff at the end of their training
